National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) Geral Kennedy Chapter

National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is a non-profit, educational organization established in 1984 to honor excellence in Career & Technical Education (CTE).

Mission:
To honor student achievement and leadership, award scholarships, promote educational excellence and enhance career opportunities for the NTHS membership.

You may be eligible for membership in the Sulphur Springs High School National Technical Honor Society Geral Kennedy Chapter. Your selection will NOT be final unless you meet all eligibility requirements, turn in a completed application form by the due date, and are accepted by the NTHS selection committee for membership.

Minimum requirements:

  • JR or SR: Must be classified as current junior or senior with the proper number of credit hours.
  • GPA: Must have a minimum 3.5 GPA on previous (prior academic school year) weighted scale.
  • CTE Courses: Must have been enrolled in and/or completed as specified a minimum of three CTE courses.
  • CTSO: Must be a current member of one of the SSHS Career and Technical Student Organizations  (BPA, FFA, FCCLA, or HOSA) during NTHS membership.
  • Discipline: Must have no record of disciplinary suspensions, alternative school placements, or no more than two SAC placements.
  • Application: Must complete and sign application form by deadline.
  • Teacher Recommendation: Must obtain a completed recommendation from a CTE teacher by deadline.
  • Intent to Participate: Student and parent/guardian must sign the Intent to Participate Form by deadline.
  • Pay a one-time membership fee of $30 when application has been processed and membership is accepted.
  • To remain a member in good standing:

    1. All of the above qualifications must continue to be met.
    2. Must participate in at least one community service project through one of the CTSO programs per year.
    3. Members must participate in a group project to be determined by the NTHS members.

    Student Membership Benefits:

    • Membership is an important career and professional investment recognized by education, business and industry.
    • Members may apply for NTHS scholarships, a big advantage for NTHS exclusively.
    • Members receive a membership certification, presentation folder, pin, ID card, graduation tassel, silver graduation cord, a letter of recommendation, window decal and official seal to be applied to diploma.
    • Members may receive personal letters of recommendation for employment, college admission, and scholarships provided by NTHS National Headquarters.
    • Members have potential opportunities to be recruited by top corporations, colleges and universities.

    New Members - $40

    Returning Members - $15

    CALENDAR OF EVENTS:

    • Applications available from CTE teacher or Mrs. Stribling in 313D
    • Completed applications due to your CTE teacher or Mrs. Stribling in 313D
    • Notifications of acceptance sent to new members/returning members.
    • Deadline for dues - New Members: $40/ Returning Members: $15
    • Induction Ceremony - 6:00 pm in the SSHS Cafeteria.
