2022 8th Grade Endorsement Parent Student Intro.pdf

Endorsements and Programs of Study for Graduation Plans
In 2013, House Bill 5, passed by the Texas Legislature, made substantial changes to the state's curriculum and graduation requirements, assessment programs, and accountability systems. Beginning in the 2014-2015 school year, each high school student will graduate on a Foundation High School Program with an Endorsement.

ENDORSEMENT AREAS

Within each Endorsement, students will find different Programs of Study (POS) from which to choose. Each student must also complete a Career Plan developed with the help of their parents and school guidance to promote College, Career Readiness (CCR). Students are allowed to change their Endorsement and/or Program of Study, but parents must be notified of any changes.

PJC ARTICULATED COURSES

Several CTE courses are Articulated with Paris Junior College. Students taking SSHS courses that are Articulated can earn FREE college credit. To receive credit, the student must satisfy the following requirements:1) meet all college admission requirements; 2) graduate HS on the Foundation High School Plan with an Endorsement; 3) select an approved college AAS or Certificate Degree Plan; 4) complete the HS articulated course with a minimum grade of 80; 5) complete 12 semester hours of credit (can be dual credit/concurrent credit coursework taken in HS); 6) request the college credit for articulated courses within 15 months from the date of HS graduation. Articulated CTE courses and relevant PJC Certificate/AAS programs can be found in the last column of the Programs of Study by Career Cluster for SSHS table below.
