Student Arrival:

  • The doors will open at 7:30 am each morning.
  • Calvert Street is a one way street every day from 7:00-9:00 am and from 2:00-4:00 pm
  • Mitchell Street is blocked off for morning drop off and afternoon dismissal.
  • Head Start 3, Head Start 4, and Pre-K car riders will be dropped off at the north entrance on Calvert Street in one single file line. Officer Wiser, or one of our staff members, will help direct traffic, helping to ensure the safety of our students, as well as establish routines and procedures, i.e. not blocking the driveways of our school neighbors or the drive to the school parking lot. After the students from those three vehicles are safely on the sidewalk, we will let those three vehicles pull forward and motion for the next three vehicles to pull forward to let their children out of the vehicle.

  • For safety reasons, please do not drop your child off without a staff person being outside to walk them inside. After 7:50 am, a parent must walk students into the building and sign them in to school.

Visitors

Visitors and guests are welcome at Douglass Early Childhood Learning Center. Sulphur Springs Independent School District began the implementation of the V-Soft Raptor Visitor Management System (commonly called Raptor) in the 2008-2009 school year. Raptor enables schools to produce visitor badges, monitor volunteer hours, and electronically check all visitors against registered sexual offender databases. The overall goal of this system is to increase the safety of each school. After the visitor’s identification card has been scanned into the system and a negative result (from sex offender databases) is received, a visitor badge will be printed for the visitor to wear during the visit.

For the safety of those within the school and to avoid disruption of instructional time, all visitors are expected to:

  • report to the main office first
  • be prepared to show identification, which will be scanned and submitted to the V-Soft Raptor Visitor Management System
  • wear the visitor badge printed for the visitor for the remainder of the visit
  • comply with all applicable district policies and procedures
  • demonstrate high standards of courtesy and conduct
