Douglas Campus Information

 
Douglas Intermediate School serves all fifth grade students in Sulphur Springs ISD. Each student is assigned to a team for the school year.
School Times:

Start Time - 8:00 a.m.

Dismissal Time - 3:20 p.m.

* The front doors will open at 7:20 a.m. each morning.

* Car riders and walkers will enter the building on Calvert Street at the front door.

* Bus riders will enter the building on the east side drive.

* Students who arrive before 7:50 a.m. will wait in the cafeteria and will be dismissed to class at 7:50 a.m. 

Student Dismissal:

* Calvert Street #1 – Wiggins, Potts, Johnson, Charlton will dismiss by the front door.

* Calvert Street #2 – Hartley, Moreland, Mathews, Ross, Sapaugh, Evans will dismiss at the middle door.

* Freeman Street – Fouse, Burton, Martinez, McKinney, Coleman, Willis, Alexander will dismiss at the back of the school on Freeman Street.  The gate will be unlocked by staff.

* Bus riders will dismiss on the east side door in the bus lane.

* Walkers will dismiss at the front door using the crosswalk and will be supervised crossing the street.

Breakfast/Lunches:

* Breakfast will be served from 7:30-7:55 a.m.

* Free/Reduced Lunch Forms must be completed each year and returned ASAP.  These are available online at www.ssisd.net; click on MEAL APP NOW.  Forms must be completed online or on paper copy which will be sent home during the first week of school

* Breakfast Prices: Student-$1.00, Reduced-$.30, Non-Student-$1.60

* Lunch Prices: Student-$2.25, Reduced-$.40, Non-Student-$3.25 * Payment for lunches may be paid online at www.ssisd.net; click on LUNCH MONEY NOW.

* Student charge allowance will be limited to $25.00.

Snacks:

* Snacks will be available for purchase during recess.  Snacks, juice, bottled water are available. Prices vary.

* Students may bring a snack from home.

Transportation:
School Arrival Areas:
Car riders will enter the building on Calvert Street by the school sign. Bus riders will enter on the east side of the building at the bus lane.

School Dismissal Areas:
Car riders will dismiss at 3:07 on Calvert St. Signs will be posted for student pick up.
Stop #1 – Students in the classes of Wiggins, Potts, Charlton, Johnson
Sign #2 – Students in the classes of Hartley, Moreland, Mathews, Ross, Sapaugh, Evans
Freeman Street – Students in the classes of  Willis, Alexander, Burton, Martinez, McKinney, Coleman, Fouse
Buses:
Buses will drop off and pick up students on the east end of the building at the bus lane. Students will enter and leave the school through the door at east exit of the A Hall on the east side of the building.

Students who Walk Home:

If students need to cross Calvert Street and will be supervised as they cross the street.

For your child's safety, we will not let your child go home a different way than you have previously arranged unless you notify us. Please let us know by writing a note or calling the office if you want to make special arrangements for your child to be picked up or if there is a change in bus transportation.
 Attendance: (please see the handbook for complete information)

* Attendance is important to perform successfully in school.  Please call the office if your child will be absent.  

* Upon a student’s return to school, please send a note from the parent or doctor stating the reason for the absence.

* Absences are monitored and must be reported when a student has 10 absences without a doctor’s excuse.

School Safety:
For the safety of our students and faculty, all visitors must report to the office upon entering the building. All visitors must wear visitor badges to be in the hallway.

Emergency Contacts: The school needs 2 emergency phone numbers so that you or a designated person can be contacted if an emergency arises. Notify the campus if your address and/or phone number changes during the year.
Cell Phones and Other Technology Devices:
Student cell phones and devices must not be used or visible on the campus and school buses. These items will be taken up if a faculty member becomes aware of any of these devices in a student's possession. The student's parent will be responsible for picking up any item after a $15.00 fee is paid.

Parent/School Communication:

* Please check student folders/backpacks for work, notes from school or notes from teachers.  Parents may also use this as a communication tool.

NOTE:  You will receive more information regarding teams and classrooms from your child’s teachers.  Information about your child’s lunch time, specials and other activities will be available at Meet the Teacher or the first day of school.  SSISD is striving to have more online access.  Please be aware that some things are necessary to be completed on paper and will be sent home with your child as needed.
